Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving in impactful roles within the government and nonprofit sectors, where I've honed a diverse set of skills that contribute to positive change. I began my journey in public service as a Legislative Aide in the Michigan State House of Representatives, where I developed a strong foundation in legislative processes, crafting effective legislation, and engaging with stakeholders and elected officials. My experience in this role allowed me to make meaningful contributions to the legislative agenda and advocate for policies that served the best interests of my community. Building on this experience, I took on the role of Legislative Director, further enhancing my skills in the development of legislation and strategies for achieving policy objectives. I learned to navigate the complexities of the political landscape and build relationships with key decision-makers. In my most recent role as Manager of State Government Relations at the National Down Syndrome Society, I had the privilege of working with a dedicated team and a vast grassroots network to drive change on both state and federal levels. This position allowed me to leverage my expertise in legislative advocacy to support policies that promote inclusivity and equality for individuals with Down syndrome. My work involved collaborating with stakeholders, coordinating with state affiliates, and developing comprehensive legislative proposals. I'm proud of the progress we've made, particularly in states where we've seen changes in laws and regulations that benefit the Down syndrome community. Overall, my journey has been defined by my ability to craft effective legislation, engage with diverse stakeholders, build strategic relationships, and drive change through advocacy. I am passionate about using these skills to create a more inclusive and equitable society, and I look forward to continuing this mission.
