I have had much success and experience in changing practice, which includes safety devices, patient positioning and the 5 steps to safer surgery. I audit the debrief forms looking for reoccurring themes in areas of practice that could be improved as well as identifying good performanceI audit clinical practice against National Standards. Triangulation of standards, practice and outcomes is my goal and this is reported to the Hospital management.I identify and act on safety alerts that could potentially affect the safety and performance of medical devices. I have also assessed the department against the CQC KPI’s in respect to our Caring, Safe, Responsive and Effectiveness and then made improvements in our briefing and debriefing cultures to reflect this. I am IOSH trained and I am actively involved in risk assessment, health and safety and manual handling issues/training. I attend the Risk, Safety and Clinical Governance meetings and prepare reports for these meetings in advance. I am committed to on-going CPD and keep my anaesthetic and scrub skills practices updated. A reflective practitioner, I regularly consider my effectiveness by self-evaluation and seeking views of my peers and line managers; adopting this feedback to improve my performance. I enjoy challenges and deadlines of change management and always look at the benefits it can bring rather than the work involved in the process. Highly self-motivated, I can prioritise my work to ensure my decisions are timely which take account of all possible outcomes.
