Telecommunications Operations Chief
CurrentAs the telecommunications operations chief I plan and supervise the installation, operation, maintenance, and management of telecommunications systems and networks. These systems include LAN, WAN, Radio, satellite, and microwave networks. I oversee information systems support functions for command, control, communications, and computers (C4). Technical duties:• Radio - Multiband (UHF/VHF), high frequency (HF), tactical satellite (TACSAT), Microwave line-of-site (HCLOS)• Network (LAN, WAN, VOIP) – Secure DSN, SIPR, NIPR, Cisco, Brocade, SNMPC, SolarWinds, virtual servers, virtual call managers, and information assurance /cyber defense • Satellite communications (SATCOM) – TDMA, FDMA, NCW, Ka, and Ku• Receive, account for, and education of Type I communications security (COMSEC) Operations duties:• Pull data from many sources (SAP, databases, and Spreadsheets), analyze the data, and create dashboards and reports to produce actionable information and present to senior management• Identify the needs of the organization and develop training plans/schedules. Implement, refine, and complete the plan of action to achieve desired end states• Human Resources – work directly with employees to complete paperwork e.g. pay, disciplinary actions, awards, promotions, exit paperwork, interviews, and termination.• Work with outside vendors to set up training, equipment acquisition, and maintenance operations.• POC for physical security (PHYSEC), information security (INFOSEC), communication security (COMSEC) and environmental protection programs for the company.• Company knowledge management POC and SharePoint administrator

CurrentAs the assistant COMSEC Manager we receive, account for, train, and distribute Secret and Top Secret COMSEC to support over 4000 people across the state of Iowa.• Understand how modern cryptographic systems work to encrypt data• Operate the Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) system • Understand the difference and the application of asymmetric and symmetric cryptography• Receive COMSEC from CSLA/NSA and issue to Local Elements • The safeguard and accounting of COMSEC materials• Documenting, safe keeping, and providing analysis for Commanders and CONAUTHs • Be able to establish, move, and close a COMSEC account• Teaching operation, threat, and security awareness programs to all users• Developing COMSEC emergency plans, procedures, and disaster recovery operations.• Responsible for Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA), software, and firmware updates for COMSEC Equipment
