Responsibilities included:• Day to day management of up to 70 men and three production supervisors to deliver steel components.• Oversight of all Health and Safety requirements in the workshops.• Coordination of all quality assurance activities through call-in-notices to complete required inspections.• Consideration of best workshop layouts to result in optimum material throughout.• Reporting of any non-conformances to ensure continuous improvement throughout production activities.• Managing the flow of information from technical disciplines through to the shop floor, including highlighting any technical queries resulting from incomplete or incorrect specification information.• Conducting toolbox talks with the workforce to ensure that topical safety observations and current issues were addressed to all stakeholders.By working with the production team I positively impacted productivity by analysing workshop activities. Examples include:• A redesign of the layout of Bay 11 to improve material flow. Production of heavy T-Girders throughout this period went from three girders to eight girders per shift. • Working with new suppliers to introduce magnetic tooling throughout workshops to reduce set-up times and time to completion.• Worked with internal senior production managers to identify productivity improvements.• Working with production supervisors to streamline material marshalling processes to reduce the period from material delivery to manufacture. -
