As Head of Systems Implementation at CPC I lead the development and delivery of work schemes across the rail industry. Our capability is focussed on using digital technology to integrate and streamline supply chains, resulting in full transparency for client organisations, driving efficiency across all areas of project delivery.

Following a 6-month secondment into the RSSB I returned to CPC Systems Ltd. I am currently working with Transport for London as part of the Project Management Team on the 4-Lines Modernisation Project. Responsibilities include:• Working with project stakeholders to plan, monitor and execute physical installation of trackside assets and new cable infrastructure across the SMA08 area (Preston Road Station to Finchley Road Station).• Working with Senior Business Leaders to improve project delivery by identifying cost saving opportunities.

Joined RSSB at short notice in an interim position following the retirement of a senior member of the RSSB Project Management Team. Responsibilities included:• Managing 14 ongoing research projects across a number of portfolios using a range of internal web-based tools. Subject matter included Train Gauging, DEDOTS and C-DAS, Human Factors, Pantograph characteristics, Track Loading and Green Technologies throughout the rail industry.• Liaising with stakeholders from across the rail industry to deliver each project effectively and in line with original technical specifications and internal governance requirements.• Working with internal technical experts and external suppliers to ensure high quality outputs and effective dissemination of project deliverables throughout the research community.

Working with in house Systems Engineers to build industry leading tools for the optimisation of metro and mainline train networks.

Following the completion of the A2SEA mobilisation I took on a management role with responsibility over three large workshops in the shipyard. Responsibilities included:• Day to day management of up to 70 men and three production supervisors to deliver steel components.• Oversight of all Health and Safety requirements in the workshops.• Coordination of all quality assurance activities through call-in-notices to complete required inspections.• Consideration of best workshop layouts to result in optimum material throughout.• Reporting of any non-conformances to ensure continuous improvement throughout production activities.• Managing the flow of information from technical disciplines through to the shop floor, including highlighting any technical queries resulting from incomplete or incorrect specification information.• Conducting toolbox talks with the workforce to ensure that topical safety observations and current issues were addressed to all stakeholders.By working with the production team I positively impacted productivity by analysing workshop activities. Examples include:• A redesign of the layout of Bay 11 to improve material flow. Production of heavy T-Girders throughout this period went from three girders to eight girders per shift. • Working with new suppliers to introduce magnetic tooling throughout workshops to reduce set-up times and time to completion.• Worked with internal senior production managers to identify productivity improvements.• Working with production supervisors to streamline material marshalling processes to reduce the period from material delivery to manufacture.

In April 2016 Cammell Laird was awarded a £2mn contract for the manufacture of three 150 tonne steel units and subsequent installation on board the A2SEA ‘Sea Installer’ for the upcoming Burbo Bank offshore windfarm extension. Working with two Ship Managers, responsibility over this period included:• Writing tender documentation to successfully demonstrate the ability of the organisation to deliver the project specifications despite limited recent experience in the offshore renewables sector• Negotiating contract terms• Developing detailed project plans, production strategies and submitting method statements for complex elements of the scope of work• Highlighting critical areas of the production specification to ensure compliance with the engineering requirements• Identifying and acting upon project risks to reduce their impact• Developing lifting method statements• Discussing, estimating and negotiating all contractual variations with the client to deliver a ‘zero shocks’ approach• Representing Cammell Laird at international industry meetings and workshops• Developing ‘bridging’ procedures with key stakeholders to ensure that the HSE practices within the shipyard and those required on board the vessel were aligned• Liaising with Production, HSE, Quality and Technical departments to deliver the project specification• Acting as a single point of contact for the customer

During this period I worked with Ship Managers to successfully deliver customer specifications on a range of dry dockings. This involved:• Acting as a single point of contact for the customer• Taking overall responsibility for P+L on each docking• Estimating and negotiating all emergent works with the customer• Streamlining existing systems to ensure information was delivered to relevant stakeholders as required• Planning, directing and co-ordinating project activities to deliver the best outcomes• Down selecting, negotiating and placing orders with subcontractors to deliver value for money• Monitoring progress and providing daily progress reports to the customer• Held accountability for contractual delivery

During this period I worked to develop new proposals for major tender submissions including the successful bid for a New Polar Research Vessel (c. £150mn). This involved:• Understanding and analysing bid documentation to fully appreciate the requirements of the customer.• Developing clear plans and accountabilities for the delivery of all bid documentation.• Building Project Management Systems to capture key processes within the company and present them within our proposals.• Building project plans and resource allocation levels for pre-planning requirements.• Liaising with our supply chain to build price estimates with the Cammell Laird Estimating Team.• Attending technical design meetings with third party designers.• Representing the company in technical meetings to ensure company aims are incorporated into bid submissions.

• Representing the company at senior level to discuss and develop business strategies.• Developing detailed plans to allow smooth transition into a new manufacturing facility.• Working with property developers to develop detailed designs for a new manufacturing facility.• Working with property developers to down select principal contractors for facility build.• Building strong working relationships with partnering organisations.I worked with key stakeholders to build the systems and frameworks required to operate the facility for the production of high-integrity vessels and heat exchangers. This included:• Working with stakeholders to develop a facility induction tool.• Developing in house training resources to increase company understanding of the Nuclear Culture.• Developing a standalone Health and Safety Management System.• Developing the internal layout of the facility to maximise the flow of material through the manufacturing processes whilst utilising LEAN manufacturing principles• Conducting weekly project reviews with representatives from both companies to establish and troubleshoot issues.

• Coordinated a multidisciplinary production team of 35 men to continue the outfit and manage the integration of CB04 with the rest of the ship in Rosyth.• Submitted a full cost estimate for each change directive to Babcock Rosyth for approval before issuing the information to Production for implementation at ship. • Raised all Technical Queries for Production in Rosyth and communicated responses back to the shop floor quickly and efficiently.• Reported production progress weekly. • Co-ordinated all activities with Babcock Quality Assurance, including Ultrasonic testing, MPI testing and hotwork inspection so that areas could be handed over to paint.• Managed the block handover from Cammell Laird to Babcock Rosyth which included compiling a complete statement of all work required to take the blocks to completion. • Integrated Cammell Laird efforts with other major project milestones to ensure that we did not disrupt other production activities on board. • Built a high degree of flexibility into the Cammell Laird plan to guarantee that we could withstand unforeseen changes on board without submitting invoices for downtime. • Built strong working relationships with Senior Management and other subcontractors on site. Bought parties with conflicting views together by generating a strong sense of teamwork and mutual understanding.• Maintained a strong focus on continuous improvement in Rosyth. This resulted in being able to present Senior Management with a variety of ideas to reduce inefficiencies going forward, both whilst operating in Rosyth and at home in Birkenhead.• Ensured that all Cammell Laird production activities on site corresponded with our overall ‘best for project’ approach to building the Carriers.

• Used a carefully developed system of registers to record and monitor progress of outfit items throughout the CVF project.• Worked closely with the ACA Team to ensure the Block Handover process ran smoothly.• Took control of setting up the Cammell Laird production facility within Rosyth Naval Dockyard. This involved producing Risk Assessments and Method Statements for all appropriate activities on site and ensuring that all issues were resolved safely and efficiently so as to minimise impact on production. • Lead a multidisciplinary production team of 35 men to continue outfit of CB04 in Rosyth. Our efforts were focussed on installing all items that lay in the block split regions. This role included developing a weekly plan of activities, taking control of issuing all drawings and production material, co-ordinating all Technical Queries and Change Directives and co-ordinating our activities with other on-site personnel to ensure the outfit process ran seamlessly.

Took sole responsibility for procurement of steel and outfit items throughout the construction of the CB04 flight deck units. Worked with project leaders to ensure the build sequence was properly thought out and delivered effectively. I developed a detailed plan centred around delivering cut steel plate and outfit items into the Construction Hall only as they were required which ensured full utilization of space and resources throughout the production facility at all times.Took control of raising technical queries by liaising with the production and design teams to solve problems throughout the build. I maintained an accurate system of registers so that extra costs were documented and properly managed.Used strong technical understanding of engineering problems to provide production support drawings including the construction of two towers that served as a slipway extension to support CB04D.Developed and implemented a clear and comprehensive system to record the manufacture and installation of outfit items across CB04. Maintained a constant dialogue with external subcontractors to ensure the seamless flow of material, information and finished goods into and out of the yard.Developed the systems behind part numbering and bar sketches for the fabrication of the Western Ferries new build Project.Consulted with senior management to provide technical support for the submission of new build and conversion tenders.Set up a weekly maths class to improve understanding of core technical engineering skills amongst a group of young apprentices.

European and US cash equity trader.Traded a computer based mean-reversion model to manage five baskets of stocks, each with 8-12 constituent stocks, split into correlating market sectors.Executed trades using an in-house broking desk, external brokers, and through my own Direct Market Access trading platform.Traded Major and Emerging Market FX pairs, Equity Index, Fixed Income and Commodity Futures for short and medium term CTA trend-following models.Provided cover for the GLC trading and execution team when necessary.Liaised with the research team to develop new Futures-based trading strategies.Obtained 'Approved Person' status from the FSA

Taught Sailing and Windsurfing to adults and children, including individuals with physical and learning disabilities.Ran training weeks for up to 20 children aged between 9-12 and 12-16Used strong communication skills to lead a team of instructors whilst coordinating on-shore and on-the-water activities.
