I am a Graduate student researcher in the lab of Ben Prosser on the Epilepsy and Neurodevelopmental Disorder (ENDD) team.

The overarching goal of the Krainc lab research is to define key molecular pathways in the pathogenesis of neurodegeneration. We have focused on pathogenic mechanisms that occur across neurodegenerative disorders such as accumulation and deficient degradation of aggregation-prone proteins and mitochondrial dysfunction. Assisted Nursing team on the floor to complete tasks once a week in a positive manner. Prepared IV kits. Cleaned, sanitized, and restocked patient rooms and the nurse’s station. Responsible for the general up keep of the unit. Provided support for patients to assist them in their recovery process.

Worked with the mentorship and aid of a graduate student and Primary Investigator in a Biochemistry lab focused on protein crystallography. Responsible for the advancement of various projects centered around obtaining protein structures and elucidating their mechanism of catalysis, inhibition, or regulation. Managed experiments centered around protein.

Shadowed various chemistry research labs at Loyola in the hopes of spending three weeks during the summer investigating a new and unknown research project.

Rome, Italy

Worked alongside an allergist in Rome while studying abroad. Saw patients, and performed and analyzed blood, skin, patch, and breathing test on patients. Cared for patients and interpreted results of tests. Attended various medical presentations and aided in preparing the Doctor’s own research presentations. Learned firsthand about the various differences.

Pre/Post Operations Volunteer at Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare. Cleaned and Prepared patient rooms, assisted nurses to manage the floor by completing various tasks aimed at patient care and comfort.
