I undertake freelance consultancy helping charities, social enterprises and housing associations to grow and maximise their impact by focusing on their strategic objectives and ensuring that their resources are being most effectively deployed. I work with start-up and mature charities to develop or review strategic plans and produce Business Plans that deliver financial and operational sustainability. This often includes helping them to develop income diversification strategies, plan and launch new enterprises, improve the effectiveness of their governance and adopt the ethical and sustainable approaches expected by funders, donors and other partners today. Many of my projects are place-based, helping to ensure that properties and spaces are most effectively utilised to serve their users, local communities and residents. This may include commissioning feasibility studies, re-imagining uses and models for use and improving governance and compliance. I have been involved in evaluating the futures of several residential care homes and in supporting the HR processes linked to closures. Within social housing I have been involved in strategic and operational reviews and exploring asset transfer and future development planning. I help the overall development of the Third Sector by contributing regularly to Charity Finance magazine, as an expert speaker and for four years by lecturing in charity governance and social entrepreneurship on the MA in Charity Management at St Mary's University, Twickenham. With internationally proven relationship and consensus building skills, I am committed to a culture of continuous improvement of people, organisations and the impact that they achieve.I practice what I preach by holding trustee/volunteer director roles. In Spring 2023 I completed 9-year terms on the trustee bodies of two very different charities and I still hold one NED role in a large social enterprise trading subsidiary.I am a Supporter Member of Social Enterprise UK and on the Power to Change Open Framework for Business and Strategic Planning, operations management and mentoring. I am an active member of Consultants for Good CIC and of ROBIN - Responsible Oxfordshire Business Involvement Network.
