    Nick was responsible for the State roll out of new stores for the Bunnings network, working within the Property team for the acquisition of land and buildings in both the retail and the logistics divisions of Bunnings.Feasibilities, due diligence and the negotiation of the purchase and divestment of stores form part of the role. Nick’s primary role was to guide the project through the design and approvals process, and to liaise with the relevant authorities as well as both internal and external stakeholders to deliver the NSW store network.

    Nick was employed to take charge of the NSW Industrial Parks, which included Erskine Park and Eastern Creek. He completed the earthworks, road and infrastructure at Eastern Creek and the construction of a split warehouse with two, 2-level offices. The North Eastern Creek Zone Substation tender and construction and negotiation of the easement for power supply to the Zone Substation were critical to numerous developers in the Eastern Creek precinct. He completed the earthworks to Erskine Park as well as the construction of a large warehouse which was constructed with flexibility to be divided into three, with three separate, 2-level offices. Nick assisted the Development Manager with the preparation of Lease proposals for potential tenants, working out the ideal warehouse/office configuration and pad location, based upon their specific requirements. This involved liaising with the client, consultants and the builder and then designing and costing the proposed facility. The Lease proposals would also need to be adjusted dependant on the location of the proposed facility which would then effect the Land Cost Base. Design development and further detail from the client would allow us to revise the designs and streamline the Lease proposal to present a winning proposal.

    Nick was engaged in commercial refurbishment projects for both Colliers and St George Bank in central Sydney, as well as the retail rollout of various bank branches throughout Australia. The Colliers project was a 3 floor refurbishment of a commercial building from an existing tenancy to a new tenancy, including partition walls, workstations, data, power and lighting. It involved liaising with the past tenant and the future tenant to ensure a smooth transition and layout to the future tenants requirements.The St George Bank refurbishment was a demolition and return to base building for a future St George division.Nick was involved in the roll out of St Georges’ new “Future Bank” layouts. He was responsible for the NSW branch rollout and successfully completed 5 branches, both existing branches and new branches. The existing branches were the most critical, as the normal business operations of the individual branch, with their ATM’s, security and networking systems could not be impeded at any time. This was achieved with out-of-hours and weekend work for critical areas.

    As an Assistant Development Manager, Nick worked alongside the Development Manager on Linfox’s flagship Sydney distribution centre in Botany. The project posed numerous environmental and logistical challenges and Nick was instrumental in negotiating and securing adjoining land to create a roadway to access the proposed site. Once this land had been secured, Nick was the first point of contact for all correspondence throughout the construction period, coordinating the various parties involved to achieve the desired outcomes.Nick has worked with clients involved in the chemical and petrochemical industries, and in other environmentally sensitive fields. The experience he has gained working with large multi-national corporations and their different and unique systems, specifications, policies and procedures has put him in good stead for dealing with challenges in specialist industries in particular.Relations with numerous clients, consultants, authorities and specialist construction staff were of utmost importance and Nick was able to manage all of these simultaneously. The sensitive environmental nature of the numerous businesses involved required a high level of diligence in reporting and documentation to assure the client that all necessary precautions had been taken.Nick’s role as a Project Manager in the Commercial Industrial division was on various Industrial, Civil, Commercial and Entertainment projects. He was responsible for authority approvals, design, client and consultant liaison as well as construction supervision. Budgeting, forecasting and programming were also managed by Nick to bring the projects through to a successful conclusion, within programme and under budget. Utilizing progressive design reviews resulted in cost and time savings to many of the projects. Reporting directly to the NSW General Manager, Nick’s development cost and progress reporting was critical to the divisional reporting of the large publicly listed company.
