• Successfully designed, implemented and led a new department to deliver a key corporate strategy of developing member clubs. Resulted in clubs with improved governance, direction, facilities and revenue.• Worked in partnership with sportscotland to create a combined facility fund for rugby clubs - Club Sustainability Fund. Over the first 3 years a total contribution of £840k from Scottish Rugby secured £2.4m in facility funds from sportscotland Lottery towards a total facility project cost of over £12m. • Successfully led a cross department project group to change the investment strategy to member clubs for next season. This represented a major shift in funding policy that will allow Scottish Rugby to prioritise funding to the more progressive clubs, incentivise clubs to develop and get a better return for investment.• Successfully developed and implemented a new product and brand for Scottish Rugby, TartanTouch – Simple, Social, Rugby.• Developed a strategic planning and diagnostic tool for managers to use with clubs to ensure a consistency in approach to developing business plans.

Internal promotion to Head of Club Services.• Successfully led club and school partnerships including sportscotland, Scottish Government, Local Authorities and commercial sponsors such as RBS, Brewin Dolphin & Wooden Spoon.• Secured funding from International Rugby Board and raised Scottish Rugby’s reputation and standing with FIRA, the other European rugby nations.• Financial management of an annual budget in excess of £4m, including £2m of external Government funding.• Developed a strong partnership with National Team colleagues and the institute of sport to ensure a strong performance pathway to professional rugby for representative players.• Contributed to the strategic direction of Scottish Rugby through the development of the strategic plan through to 2016 and subsequent policy initiatives that changed the direction of rugby development post 2016.

Internal promotion to Head of Schools and Clubs.• 60% increase in participation which achieved Scottish Rugby’s strategic targets for growth two years ahead of schedule. • Successfully led a new regional rugby development infrastructure to direct and coordinate the game in Scotland that empowered clubs to be at the centre of rugby development in their local communities.• Increased Scottish Rugby’s credibility with key stakeholders including rugby clubs, schools, local and national government, Scottish University Sport etc. This has led to:o Securing additional Scottish Government funding of circa £1m per annum from Proceeds of Crime monies to deliver rugby playing opportunities across Scotland. o An increase from 12 to over 90 formal partnership and investment agreements with local authorities and clubs with a combined investment of over £2m for a Club Development Officer network• Led on Scottish Rugby’s safety project established following a sharp increase in serious neck injuries in youth rugby. After wide scale consultation, including input from medical experts, implemented a number of policy changes to reduce risks of serious injury in the game. • Board member of the Edinburgh Rugby professional team. Involved in raising the profile of the club with the rugby and business communities in the East of Scotland.• Led the creation of a Scottish Rugby Facility Policy to improve the quality and quantity of community rugby facility provision.

• Led the key infrastructure priority of implementing regional sports partnerships by working with SGB’s, LA’s and the institute of sport network• Led extensive Player Improvement consultation process with key partners including Scottish Parliament and Government agencies.• Developed recommendations for sports partnerships including detailed three year financial forecasts • Developed partnership agreements for sports partnerships that provided clarity to partner’s expected political, strategic and financial commitments.
