Yachties' Café is located at the edge of Wollongong Harbour and provides coffee, muffins and lunch food. I was responsible for all aspects of its operation, including speaking with customers, the purchase of ingredients, accounting, preparation of food and marketing.

As harbourmaster it was my responsibility to maintain the Yacht Club's moorings and to allocate moorings to club members' yachts and visiting boats. I was the first point of contact for many yachts who visited Wollongong Harbour. This was a volunteer position.

I research artificial photosynthesis using pigment-protein ensembles. Specifically I have synthesised light-harvesting porphyrin arrays suitable for use with artificial protein scaffolds, which have been successfully utilised in a novel solar energy conversion prototype.

This was a business that I set up with a partner. We assembled two drones with gimballed cameras for aerial photography. I brought electronics expertise to the business, while my partner specialised in photography. We surveyed a landslide on the south face of Mt Keira for researchers at the University of Wollongong and made several rock climbing videos. As an offshoot from this business, with a separate partner at the University of Wollongong, I developed a "Life Saving Drone" which would carry a flotation device to a swimmer in distress. This was entered in a competition called Global Challenges and won first prize.
