Life as a barristers' clerk started in 1992 covering maternity leave in the chambers of Robert Fordham QC.From there to Pearl Assurance House under the similarly brilliant but altogether different John Kay QC of Exchange Chambers.Two years later back to R Fordham QC's chambers at Martin's Bank as the first junior clerk to chambers under senior clerk John Kilgallon . Following the merger with Castle St Chambers I took the roles of Assistant Practice Director and Senior Civil Clerk at 7 Harrington Street, overseeing growth to over 100 barrister members including in excess of 50 civil practitioners.Industry-wide fee challenges furthered the idea for an agile business-like model and in 2016 I opened the doors of Charterhouse Chambers.From start-up through pandemic to current time Charterhouse has grown to in excess of 20 members providing exemplary legal and customer service resulting in 7-figure turnover in its core practice areas. Family and sport dominate any free-time.I have been involved in rugby union since the age of six. The values of respect and loyalty resonate. Aside from the life-long friendships the many highlights include:Playing In the national second division with Waterloo alongside several players who went on to international stardom;Representing Cheshire at senior and U21 level;Playing for Mystic River Rugby Club, Boston, Mass. (Reaching USA national final);Seeing the back of Jeremy Guscott (too) many times in the Hong Kong '10's';I have coached both men's and women's rugby since my time at University of Sheffield and was interviewed on Women's Hour Radio 4 regarding the emergence of Women's Rugby;I was part of the coaching team for the Lancashire Senior Women's Squad (including Gill Burns County Championship win 2017), have coached at University of Liverpool and Liverpool College School.I currently coach on Sale Sharks Developing Player Programme and have assisted the coaching team at Lancashire Mens U20s with their player assessments.
