This project has run since 2005 with a variety of project managers and is highly regulated, and includes adherence to import and export controls, letters of credit, and bank guarantees. Consequently, it requires considerable attention to detail plus the ability to earn goodwill and cooperation from three different participant cultures – the UK, Italy, and Pakistan. Resolved critical contractual, delivery and spares issues by documenting and simplifying the processes, and planning and tracking the contractually required activities. Restarted shipment of deliverables and warranty items, invoiced over €2.2M, and unblocked over €1.5M of aged debt (some up to 7 years old).PMO and safety support for Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) installation project: This €50M+ contract incorporated the design and installation of over 10km of sorting systems and conveyors. Undertook a wide variety of roles on-site in the East Midlands in support of the other team members, including: financial forecasting, tracking, and reporting, IT and process support, and deputising for the health and safety manager.Transition manager for Selex’s share of the Fusion team’s bid for project Marshall. Planned the transition, ring-fenced resources, undertook financial modelling, and travelled extensively surveying airfield and proposed installation sites.Various roles supporting the customer: National Air Traffic Services (NATS):• Project Manager of Selex’s Integrated Logistics Support work at NATS.• Test manager for NATS’ relocation of its air traffic control training college from Hurn to their Corporate Technical Centre (CTC), (project 3104).• Acceptance Manager for NATS’ relocation of the TDU system from Swanwick to CTC (project 4535).Bid manager for two major rail maintenance bids.

Brought in to add rigour to the authorisation of the significant level of PRINCE 2 change projects, Nick then led a 14 month change programme to drive down internal costs, including reorganising the delivery functions and a rigorous overhaul of the complex project accounting processes.At the end of this period the total loss was less than 1% of contract value, daily user satisfaction surveys were consistently above 85% satisfied, and the dedicated team size had been halved (to 120 staff). -
Company Operations Director, Nordics & BalticsLogica Jul 2000 - Jun 2001Logica Nordics & Baltics was going through a crisis of confidence, resulting in resignations of a large part of the management team, staff attrition of over 70%, and several bitter commercial disputes going back as far as 1998 (including two forthcoming court cases). Nick was asked to undertake three roles: Delivery Director, Commercial Manager, and Senior Staff Manager. Within a year attrition was 7%, one office had been shut down and the other two had moved to larger premises, total staff numbers had grown, the unit had won its largest contract ever (>£6m), and all the major commercial disputes had been settled at favourable terms -
