I manage a number of high profile frontline Services including street cleansing, grounds maintenance, countryside estate team, Arboricultural unit and playgrounds. In addition to these frontline services I manage the Councils greenspace portfolio which also includes allotments and war memorials. I have completely designed all these services changing the way we deliver these services, reducing overheads, involving frontline staff with service changes whilst reducing budgets by 50%.Even though budgets have reduced the service is leaner and more efficient and service requests have reduced by 86%.These frontline services are now used to tackle other agendas i.e. ex- offender management, worklessness, working with vulnerable residents My Service design has gained national recognition and has been successful in a number of national awards. I was invited to talk at the Local Government Association Annual Conference about effective service redesign.
