I have been in patnership with my father since december 1995 and at one time we had 8 salons. The business I managed started as a barber shop only, then in 2005 we became a ladies and men's salon. I have been cutting mens hair and managed that salon from 1995 till 2012. In that time I have also worked on the salon floor and I trained over 10 apprentices from start to completion. Two of my former apprentices have gone on to set up there own succesfull barber shops, and one other has become a succesful barber in Ireland.From 2012 to present I have been Area Manager for our 4 stores.I am now at a stage in my life where I am looking for new challenge and opportunity, where I can learn something new as well as capitalise on my existing knowledge and experience.Key Responsibilities & Achievements - Successful Business Owner - Fully qualified Men's Hairdresser / Barber - Lead business, product and sales strategies including staff and customer incentives, stock management and salon renovations - Nurture, develop and manage team of 20 hairdressers including apprentices - approximate even mix of ladies and men's - Over 300 staff employed in all our salons in my 25 year career- Training and coaching of barbering apprentices and provide support to seniors - Conduct regular meetings with managers, staff and teams - Manage relationships with key suppliers such as retail product and colour representatives - Set staff key performance indicators Schedule weekly rosters - Work on shop floor as required Skills - Self-motivated and driven - Exceptional communication and superior customer service - Negotiation- Computer Literacy in Microsoft Office, accounting and payroll as well as salon and stock management systems
