About Nick Scheffel

Designed and implemented the specialty math evaluator, math conversion process, and toolset for both the Ainsworth and Exacta Historical Horse Race systems. Converted math for the first 32 pilot themes myself, then trained mathematicians in IGT's Reno, Moncton and Belgrade studios on this process and toolset. Currently working with those studios to improve the Prize First math creation tools process and tools as needed. This HHR math evaluator and conversion process is now being used as the basis for a universal math evaluator currently in development for Prize First Class 3, Class 2, NYL, CDS and HHR markets. Prototyped a new Class 2 prize to pattern mapping algorithm as a proof of concept which proved to be 10x-20x faster than the old toolset that had been used the last 15+ years. Served as Product Owner during the Agile/Scrum development of a new Class 2 prize to pattern mapping tool based on my prototype work, and trained specialty mathematicians in the Reno, Moncton, and Belgrade studios on the usage of this tool.Designed and implemented a testing tool using an SQLite data source to run predetermined outcome tests on client electronic game machines utilizing the new math evaluator detailed above. SOLID design principles were followed so this tool could be easily extended to other data source and test client types.Solved various mathematical issues with our most complex specialty math conversions including an algorithm to calculate the steady state of the Markov chain representation of the persistence game logic.Designed and implemented a tool used by mathematicians in the Reno, Moncton and Belgrade studios to calculate, display and alter central determination system game math profiles using C#.Implemented several central determination seed generation algorithm optimizations that decreased sample generation run times by up to 50% using VB6 and C/C++.Named as an inventor on U.S. patent application number 20110223991 – Multi-Play Central Determination System. Designed and implemented a game design math tool which provides a service to store math data for all wager games regardless of development environment using C#, SQL Server 2008 R2, LINQ to SQL, WCF, and WPF. Also wrote a data access layer for other developers to interact directly with the service.
