Located in the Northern portion of San Diego County Battalion 1 has a variety of target hazards that require multi agency cooperation and coordination including a large resort, Interstate 15, a variety of local government and reservation fire departments, a military base, wildland urban interface and significant fire history.This position requires operational and administrative oversight, of multiple fire stations. As a Battalion Chief I am responsible for the Public Affairs Bureau in San Diego County.I work in one of the major media markets in California. I work directly for the Fire Chief and advise the Executive Staff on public relations issues. I work very closely with local, state and federal cooperators, including providing the local Board of Supervisors, Congressmen, Assembly members and elected officials with timely information on significant incidents within the County and the Southern Region. I facilitate news conferences, tours, and attend meetings that are germane to our agencies mission. As the Public Information Officer I represent all CAL FIRE Schedule A contracts within the County of San Diego. I am the Public Information Officer for California Incident Command Team 10, a member of the United States Fire Administration NFFF External Affairs Teams and cadre member for the Basic and Advanced Information Officer course.Guest Speaker: 2010 Arson Investigators Conference, 2009 California Public Information Officers Association Conference, Palomar College Emergency Management Program, Riverside Community College Chief Officer/Fire Officer Program, CSTI Basic Information Officer Course, Variety of community organizations throughout San Diego County.

I am in constant communication with Sacramento Staff to ensure that appropriate information is being disseminated on sensitive departmental issues. As the Public Information Officer I represent all CAL FIRE Schedule A contracts within the Unit and the San Diego County Fire Authority. I am the Public Information Officer for California Incident Command Team 10. I was assigned to the Presidential detail as a Public Information Officer during the 2007 fire siege. From December 2006 to December 2008 I was a member of California Incident Command Team 9 as a Resource Unit Leader, and a Training Specialist
