I was the supervisory conservationist in the Lower Republican Natural Resources District administrative area. I managed four offices and 10 full-time employees as well as seasonal help as required. I was responsible for all areas of business that the NRCS performs in the district. I did conservation planning on cropland, pastureland, rangeland, wildlife land, and wetland complexes. I was the local lead trainer for our GIS applications. I worked with customers to assess their goals and objectives and help determine whether or not our technical assistance met their needs. I was responsible for administering our conservation programs to the local customers. That included our voluntary conservation programs and programs administered by partner agencies. This also included any regulatory or compliance programs. I was the lead contracting officer in the district and was required to review all contracts with landowners and allocate funds. I was the lead employee in the field during the rollout of the Conservation Security Program and secured millions of dollars of funding for hundreds of landowners in 2008 and 2009. I also oversaw the daily operations in the Alma Field Office, directing the conservation planner, technician and district secretary to maintain focus on current high priority items. I set performance goals for the district, completed the business plan, assured consistency across the district through the implementation of the quality assurance review, and other duties as assigned.
