Nick’s love of wine began with one of those wine moments – tasting a Peter Lehmann Barossa Semillon recommended by a newspaper lift-out. As he took that first sip on a warm Queensland evening, he thought, ‘right now, this tastes a lot better than beer’. It was a simple moment that triggered an amazing journey.After graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Queensland, Nick spent more than 15 years advising business owners on mergers and acquisitions – developing a deep understanding of how to run a successful business.During this time, Nick continued to expand his knowledge of fine wines: sourcing back-vintage wines from Europe in the few spare hours outside his day job; studying and tasting wines from all of the major wine regions of the world; and travelling to France more than a dozen times to learn from respected wine producers.After several years of discovering more and more great wines through the services of MW Wines, Nick had the opportunity to acquire the business in 2010.Never one to shy away from new challenges or opportunities, Nick took over the reins of MW Wines – where he has combined his business acumen and ever-growing passion of fine wine, assisted by a team of wine lovers.The MW Wines business has three key pillars: the Wine Shop, selling an extensive range of fine, old and rare wines; Wine Auctions, giving collectors access to buy and sell sought-after wines; and Wine Storage, providing secure, climate-controlled wine storage services for customers.When he’s not running MW Wines or travelling the world in search of rare and fine wines, Nick enjoys spending time with family and heading off on the occasional surfing trip with friends.
