EC135 HEMS Touring Captain ATPL(H) IR, 3000hrs

Leader and manager of a team of sixty instructors and up to sixty trainees within a large flying training school. Supervision, safety and output focused leader with a proven ability to manage growth of a team whilst prioritising and communicating effectively across a broad spectrum of activity. Assuring the quality of Defence rotary aircrew prior to operational conversion.Instructional, test and tasking flying operations by day and night on EC135 and EC145 to achieve the flying training programme.

Above Average (A2) Instructor with a wealth of experience in helicopter instruction, both basic and advanced. Skills utilised predominantly in an assessment, test and assurance capability for both trainee aircrew, junior qualified pilots and experienced instructional staff.

Working alongside the Type Airworthiness Authority (TAA) and Director Release to Service Authority to clear new aircraft, aircraft equipment and ancillary equipment to a variety of aircraft types. With a full working understanding of MAA regulation, I navigated clear paths to clearances via a succession of platform safety and steering working groups. Working with autonomy as part of the RTSA, I engaged heavily with engineering authorities, TAAs and Industry partners to ensure an effective route to clearance, with a focus on benefitting the end-user operator. Responsible for introducing new equipment to Hawk T Mk 1/1A, Prefect, Tucano, King Air/Avenger, Tutor, Vigilant, Viking, Juno (EC135), Jupiter (EC145).

Managing helicopter operations for multiple Chinook detachments and the Falkland Island tasking team. Delivered new landing site system to improve the safety of operations at all island helicopter landing sites and co-ordinated the requests of the senior military leadership as the Island's helicopter subject matter expert.

Chief planning officer and team manager for a team of world class single engine helicopter instructors on Squirrel (AS350) at the Defence Helicopter Flying School. Daily program management of helicopter assets and personnel, including pastoral support for junior aircrew and experienced staff.I flew 900hrs on type, 600 instructional. Delivering a full spectrum of basic and advanced flying training to ab initial trainees as a single engine helicopter pilot and instructor.

4 tours Afghanistan, 3 as captain. Detachments in Morocco, Jordan, USA and Cyprus. Roles included flight test pilot, training captain, deputy flight commander, squadron adjutant. Experienced programmer of millions of pound worth of military assets, personnel and aircraft both in peacetime and abroad. 1200hrs on type.
