Tumor-immunology has caught my interest since the start of my studies. I find the complex interactions between the immune-system and cancer cells really fascinating. I think the upcoming years will bring exciting developments in the field of immunotherapy. It is my ambition to help patients by exploiting the fundamental principles of immune cells and their interactions with cancers by developing translational medicine to ultimately establish effective and sustained cancer immunotherapies. NK cell therapy is relatively new in the field of cancer immunotherapy. This novelty, combined with the potential of NK cell based immunotherapy motivated me to work on this topic. During this internship I examined ways to improve NK cell therapy in suppressive environment by combining NK cells with monoclonal-antibody by triggering Antibody-Dependent Cellular Cytotoxicity. Besides my research project I worked as a last year intern on the internal medicine department where I treated hospitalised patients.
