With over 20 years in Welfare to Work, Employer Engagement and Social Value I have experience that weaves through all aspects of community support and development. I have managed large teams of employment professionals; facilitated and managed huge national accounts. Although perhaps most importantly of all worked in quiet unremarkable corners of our communities, helping individuals to reach their full potential. Respectful of protocols and procedures; I am at heart an innovator. The World changes at breakneck speed and nothing hampers progress more than unthinking learned behaviour and the shackles of “well we have always done it this way”. Achievements: I was the initial conceptual originator for a new employer covenant for recruitment within the whole field of social value. Need is not prescribed by the limits of our specialisms; intersectionality is key. Fixing a roof because that’s what you know, whilst ignoring the walls because that’s not what you do is gestural at best. Roofer, working with builder, working with plumber, working with electrician, all with a single purpose is the solution This covenant will positively impact both the lives of those in need of our support, as well as contributing towards the way in which organisations everywhere articulate their own social value policy. The point of what we do is simple: It has nothing to do with our shoes on a stage receiving plaudits and everything to do with community seeing feet hit the workplace floor and people’s lives positively changing.
