Endowment Officer
Foundations Preschool Of Washtenaw County
Ann Arbor
While at Foundations Preschool, in addition to working on several development projects, my primary responsibility is creating the foundational work for the launch of the Foundations Preschool endowment in 2014, which included: •Creating a 10 year strategic plan to realize a $3M endowment based on established nonprofit research and by collecting/analyzing data from Ann Arbor area nonprofits. •Training key staff and board members in endowment tasks, especially conducting personal visits with prospective major donors. •Establishing benchmarks within the 10 year strategic plan, both by building on long-term endowment building research and by interviewing other Ann Arbor nonprofits that have established endowments. •Identifying, researching, and conducting personal visits with prospective major donors.•Creating endowment specific marketing materials through InDesign. •Recruiting new Board members.•Managing and recruiting the Endowment Committee. In addition to my specified role as an endowment officer, I also was responsible for other projects, including: • Name Change: Myself and my supervisor were the two primarily responsible for the planning and execution of changing the name from "Perry Nursery School of Ann Arbor" to "Foundations Preschool of Washtenaw County," which more accurately reflected our mission and area served. This included conducting our own market research as well as reviewing nonprofit management and research materials to research the financial, marketing, and legal processes and best practice regarding name changes. • New Generation Donors Project: increasing and diversifying individual donations by appealing to younger (mid 20s to 40s) donors. By incorporating increasingly established research on "new generation" donors, I brought a new marketing and communications strategy to specifically target young donors, which ultimately increased young donors donations of time (particularly on the Board of Directors) and money.
