All my work in this current role is using the x-ray method, this is ranging from half inch upto 20 inch, working to both ASME and BS EN specifications, 70% of my work is based in the bay with the other 30% being carried out on site, this is also using the X-ray method. All radiographs are sentenced and reported by my self. Being the lead technician my role also requires me to organise my assistants with film types depending on what specification I am working too, also for setting out barriers warning lights for when we are on site visits. Dye penetrant testing is also carried out by my self depending on percentages specified by the client.

RadiographerI am subcontracted to Blue Limit Inspection LTD from Radex Inspection LTD.my main role at Blue Limit Inspection LTD is radiography, working in a bay using X-ray, iridium and also selenium sources. At Blue Limit Inspection LTD my time is basically on a 50/50 basis for using both X-ray and Gamma, using the rigaku for the small bore piping such as 3/4" 2" etc these all ranged from welder skill tests to spools for different clients, using both BS and ASME standards. Gamma (iridium/selenium) was used mainly for 3" and above this was again using both BS and ASME standards. There is also site visits that take place twice a week, these are to a welding fabrication shop and also a ship building firm. We was asked by our clients to inspect percentages of seems and T's on vessels, and also a percentage of seems on a ship, both using X-ray and also the manual development of radiographs, interpretation and reports.

During my period of work with ITCL, I have undertaken a number of roles on various different sites ranging from pharmaceutical environments, gas pipeline facilities, oil & petrochemical site, gas & coal fired, and energy from waste power stations. These include Radiography, Dye Penetrant Inspection, boroscope inspection, Positive Material Identification, these techniques have been performed in various locations, both site and test house conditions.

I was subcontracted into applus rtd from itcl for a 12 week shut down at stanlow oil refinery (ESSAR)this was to carry out radiography on welds, ranging from butt welds to profile shots, using techniques such as industrial radiography and also digital radiography, I was in a working crew off 3 technicians and nominated to be lead technician. My responsibilities was to get all the necessary equipment needed for the pacific job ie barriers, signs, gamma alarms, film and all the documents prepared for the job ie permits, safety document. Also to work out safe working distances as there was a lot of personnel also working on the plant at the same time as us.
