I have responsibility for the combined Viasat and Inmarsat group's tax affairs in the EMEA region, as well as leading on tax matters for our Commercial Air business providing connectivity to airlines and passengers in many countries around the world.

I was responsible for all European Tax matters in the ResMed Group together with some territories in the Middle East and African region. The Group's operations in Europe included distribution, production and R&D. Key aspects of the role included: partnering with business leaders to ensure that new business operations and geographical expansion were managed in a tax efficient manner, quarterly tax reporting, oversight of corporate income tax compliance together with VAT and indirect tax matters across Europe.

During my time with Reed Elsevier (now called RELX), I was responsible for external reporting of the Group's tax numbers under IFRS as well as cashflow and effective rate forecasting.

I trained in tax with Ernst & Young focusing primarily on large multinational groups. I was promoted to Manager in October 2002 and Senior Manager in October 2003. During my time with Ernst & Young, my focus was primarily on the Energy Sector and I undertook an 18 month secondment during 2006/07 to Royal Dutch Shell.
