Key Projects: *8L/26R Runway Keel Section Replacement Hartsfield International Airport, Atlanta, GA - $35 million project requiring removal and replacement of a 9000’ long runway keel section. Project included 100,000 SY of 22” thick concrete pavement placed in two lifts to facilitate heavy duty mesh reinforcement placed mid depth. 65,000 CY of concrete placed in 16 days with possible $840,000/day liquated damage penalties. 29 day job schedule finished 6 hours ahead of schedule despite unforeseen Presidential delays. Winner of ACI excellence award and nominated for several local, state, and national awards. * P688 Apron Expansion, New River Marine Corp Air Station, Jacksonville, NC – First high temperature concrete apron to be slipformed on the East Coast. 240,000SY apron required the use of special aggregate and manufactured sand in the concrete mix that had to be hauled onsite from 4 hours away requiring extreme coordination. Apron was home to the V-22 Osprey half plane, half helicopter so each individual concrete panel required an aircraft tiedown that had to be installed and finished around while the concrete was in its plastic state. 13,000 tiedowns in all were installed with no rework. Project is nominated for several local, state, and national awards.* Charleston Airport Terminal Apron Expansion, Charleston, SC – With the expansion of the Boeing Aviation facility next door this $16 million project was needed to upgrade the airports existing facilities and upgrade them fast. 10 phases of construction allowing all facets of the airport to remain operational were completed through a harsh winter in under 8 months. Key Projects:* I-65 Hoover, AL- Only second concrete roadway constructed in Alabama in over 30 years. $21million Reconstruction Contract including removal and replacement of mainline interstate and ramps, earthwork, soil cement, drainage and barrier wall, accelerated schedule finished early and on budget despite significant change in scope mid project and severe winter weather delays; Winner of ACPA National 2012 Silver Award * I-385, Laurens, SC- $65 million full rehabilitation project that involved the first ever closure of an interstate in South Carolina. A typical 3-yr project accelerated to a 8 month schedule, completed early and under budget using stringless concrete paving and dowel bar insertion techniques. 2011 National ACPA 2010 Silver Award, America’s Transportation Award, Placed 5th in “2011 Top 10 Roads” Roads & Bridges, Erosion Control Project of the year, Stormwater Solutions* I-520/I-20 Aiken, SC- - First Concrete Roadway Design/Build project ever completed in South Carolina, 30 days allotted in the middle of the winter for 20 miles of mainline paving, completed 3 months ahead of schedule.
