    As the Store Manager for Dollar General #3828 in Trussville, AL, during the day to day operations I was in charge of all aspects of business within a retail establishment. This would include the ordering of supplies and product to make sure the store is customer ready at all times. I was in charge of making a schedule based upon the hours given to me by my District and Regional Managers. I was to make sure that the daily receiving of vendors and the weekly receiving of the distribution center truck were done and received on the handheld to make sure inventory levels were maintained and proper freight flow was handled. I ensured that all sales and cashier paperwork were filed properly on a daily basis and that those files were kept and held for the period of time that the company set with its S.O.P. I was to make sure that counts were corrected and out of stocks were handled on a weekly basis. I was responsible for proper following of opening and closing procedures, and that they were being executed correctly at all times. I made sure that the safe and the monies for the cash drawers were maintained and that there was an adequate amount of change for the store to function at peak efficiency. I managed six employees and wrote their annual evaluations when it was time.

    Assistant Managers at Wal-Mart basically run the entire store. As an Assistant Manager for Wal-Mart I learned all aspects of operating a Wal-Mart Supercenter. I was over several departments in the store at one time and was in charge of making out schedules for forty to fifty people on any given week. I was to make sure the daily operations of departments were handled and properly delegated to the Department Heads the notes for the day handed down from the Store Manager. I worked six months as the Overnight Manager and was to make sure the freight received was properly stocked on the shelves and the associates were meeting their time frames for their assignments on any given night. I was to make sure that the Task Management System was kept up every hour and that the times were inputted properly. As a Night Manager I was to have the right person in the right place to make sure the freight was stocked efficiently, and to make sure the cash office was getting all the monies right for the next day business operations. As an Assistant Manager on any given day I was to do the Temps in the fresh food areas and verify deposits are ready for pickup and accurate.
