 Delivering Fair Trading electrical equipment safety certification service in accordance with the pre-market certification and minimum safety requirements of the Electricity Safety Act and Regulations. Auditing to REAS - Recognized External Approval Scheme (SAI Global, SGS, TUV Rheinland, SAA Approvals etc.) Assessing compliance of electrical equipment with relevant standards through evaluation of test reports and/or product examination. Liaising with local, interstate and overseas regulatory authorities, test laboratories, electricity distributors and representative organizations to ensure a consistent response to equipment safety concerns. Representing the Agency on relevant Australian Standards committees (EL04) as correspondence members dealing with the development, review and interpretation of electrical safety standards. Undertake, either individually or as part of a team, investigations/ projects into matters requiring a response from the Unit.

 Providing technical assessments on electrical goods in accordance with AS/NZS safety, EMC, energy ratings (MEPS), and BigW / Woolworths in-house standards; Investigating and reporting customer complaints, drafting CAP (corrective action plan), and conducting withdraw / recalls for unsafe or uncertified products; Store auditing to ensure compliance of electrical articles with legislative requirements; Providing services for domestic and oversea venders & suppliers in terms of recommendations and suggestions for product improvements in line with International / Australian electrical safety standards;  Sharing regulatory updates and changes to legislation with buyers, and merchandise managers; liaising with domestic and overseas regulatory authorities, test laboratories; Assisting with the development and maintenance of procedures and test methods for hardgoods testing and pre-shipment inspections in electrical safety area.

 Testing white goods products against relevant safety standards, such as washing machine, refrigerator, vacuum cleaner, air conditioner, etc. (IEC60335-2-5, -2-40, relevant AS/NZS standards etc.); Constructional check on engineering samples from client, summary of dangerous factors, improvement suggestions and writing defects / deviation reports for clients; Making test instructions for certification samples; directing sample testing procedures; Analyzing the test results from laboratory, discussing with clients for necessary improvements; Writing / reviewing reports for international certifications: GS, CE for European countries, cTUVus (UL standards) for US, and CB for international laboratory and International deviations reports (for Australia, Argentina, Japan, and Saudi Arabia etc.);
