• As a backend engineer on Instagram Explore, I redesigned Explore to be a personalized, video-first, ranked experience rather than a feed of the most liked photos.
• Ideated & built algorithmically curated events video channels to show you the best videos from concerts and sporting events like Drake @ Madison Square.
• Engineered personalized topical video channels like “hair tutorials” & editorial video channels that have showcased everything from the Grammys to Halloween.

• Pulse News - Backend Engineer
• Developed a scalable Scala backend in the Play Framework that generates an RSS feed with the latest news being shared on LinkedIn related to any company.
• Designed and implemented a web scraper service that scrapes full text with HTML markup intact (Pulse’s signature reading view), author, and images; replacing LinkedIn’s legacy scraper. (Java)
