•I was Chair of Trustees for the Group pension scheme (asset base ca. £70m) from 2006-2009, having been a Trustee since 2001. I put into place a team of advisors and a succession plan which ultimately protected the scheme through its recent privatisation, including a £25m payment into the scheme. •I took responsibility for Health & Safety policy and compliance in 2005, bringing it in-house and achieving two successive gold Rospa awards. •I had responsibility for regulatory compliance and manage relationships with our regulator and national law enforcement bodies. •I took responsibility for insurance in 2004 and reduced annual costs by over £400k, undertaking an innovative partnership with an overseas insurance company. •My field security team achieved savings of £1m pa through reduced failure costs and civil recovery processes in the retail business.•I had budget responsibility for £3m in security infrastructure costs..

•Littlewoods was a £2bn high street and mail order retailer. I was the Finance Manager in the business unit which successfully launched what is now www.littlewoods.com which was at the time the largest internet clothing retailer in the UK. This included preparing complex business models and management accounts. I took a lead role in assessing potential acquisitions, and was instrumental in not investing at the peak of the “dot.com” boom.•I successfully co-ordinated the production of the Group budget and strategic plan, consolidating inputs from all business units – in the first year of a new business unit based corporate structure.•I took the Finance lead in managing Littlewoods’ relationship with Arcadia Plc in a joint venture. I undertook a strategic assessment of the JV which ultimately led to its closure.•I worked closely with the International businesses, undertaking audits in Singapore, Russia, Thailand and Sri Lanka. I had key input into the decision to close the Far East hub and, subsequently, I successfully managed the the closure of Littlewoods International, meeting budgetary and accounts preparation targets with a redundant workforce.•Within my Audit Management roles, my team achieved considerable success in bringing about business change – particularly major changes to the organisation of the logistics team and of fraud management. I instigated and developed a innovative approach to ensuring that new IT systems contained effective internal controls – using business auditors, rather than (scarce and expensive) specialist IT auditors.•Key member of investigation team in series of confidential investigations
