Firmware development for medical imaging printers • Eliminated unit-to-unit variations in print length by adding calibrated line-pitch support. • Developed compression algorithm for NVRAM storage of large calibration compensation data sets. • Improved accuracy of real-time media edge-detection algorithm by 80% with grayscale morphology, resulting in wider imageable areas while still safeguarding against damaging overprinting.

Development of Easy Coat for Windows NT software for $20M line of Conformal Coating equipment. • Added support for new, high-speed robotic platform based on a Delta Tau PMAC motion controller. • Integrated new fluid process controls and associated databases into Easy Coat software.• Improved usability through continuous customer feedback and GUI refinement. • Achieved 10% system speedup with transparent compression scheme between the PC and motion controller.Tackled high-risk portion of embedded controller, addressing hardware and software issues. • Analyzed motion requirements and evaluated architectures compatible with existing hardware. • Developed solution using the MPC555’s Time Processor Unit (TPU) PWM functionality and a PLD for steppermotor control.Recognized as an in-house expert on Delta Tau PMAC Motion Controller • Consulted on optimizing several dispensing applications, typically achieving 15%-30% throughput improvements with only software modifications. • Developed several custom servo filters for R&D controls staff

Recruited to develop new software for a line of automated Conformal Coating dispensing systems. • Architected and codeveloped Easy Coat for Windows NT, a modular, object-oriented application for developingcustom dispensing programs for circuit boards and electronic components, and coordinating robots, conveyors,and fluid dispensers to execute those programs and coordinate production. • Awarded special bonus for exceeding project expectations.Developed software critical for dispensing application, the real-time coordination of motion and dispenser I/O. • Designed, simulated, and verified custom DSP (M56K) firmware for the the Delta Tau PMAC controller. • Custom firmware subsequently adopted by other product lines for its accuracy and flexibility.
