About Nick Bartone
Been living/working in the Bay Area since 2008, primarily at PIXAR. I've done rotations in Rendering & Lightspeed (a tech-heavy team dedicated to debugging/troubleshooting difficult lighting/rendering problems) but predominantly have been cast in the Lighting department. Through the years I've done shot-focused work, sequence-focused work, looks-dev work, mentorship and more recently have been filling the role of Technical Lighting Lead. This role is a kaleidoscope of responsibilities involving: TD/Lead/Supervisor support, pipeline/tools engineering, technical troubleshooting, acting as a liason for other shows/departments/Tools/Renderman, looks-dev, code reviews, performance reviews, team briefing, hotlist tracking, documentation and shot/sequence lighting work. It's a great gig that constantly feeds me with new stuff to learn and a good overview of the greater synaptic web that connects a whole production together.
