I started out in the legal profession as a Personal Injury Liability litigation attorney. From there I moved to corporate law and worked as an in-house legal advisor to an insurance company. In 1998 I went into the Pastorate, working as a pastor at Rosebank Union Church in Johannesburg. During that time, I completed a 4 yr degree in Theology. In 2003 my wife and I went to Thailand as church planters. We were based in Lopburi (for language study) Chiang Mai for 4 years and Lampang for 4 years. In Lampang I led a team which worked to see a highly contextualised, organic church movement take root. I was also the regional leader for OMF North Thailand.In 2011 we moved to OMF's International HQ in Singapore where I deputised for the International Director for Evangelisation (IDE) for 15 months. After that I stayed on for an additional 21 months as the Assistant IDE. My work in Singapore involved discipleship, training, and leadership of the wider evangelistic ministry of OMF in East Asia.At the end of 2014 we moved back to South Africa were I am currently serving as the Executive Director for OMF Southern Africa. We are looking at a sustainable model of missions sending by partnering with the local church through a virtual office, and relying extensively on a network of high-impact volunteers.I served for 2 years as the Group Life Pastor at Gracepoint Church (in addition to my OMF role), overseeing the small groups, prayer and hosting & assimilation ministries. Since May 2018 I have been serving as the pastor at HeronBridge Community Church. In addition to “regular”preaching and teaching pastoral duties, I am passionate about mobilising for deep societal transformation in the areas of racism, sexism and poverty. I want to see the church becoming more aware of these issues and actively engaged in being an agent of transformation in society.
