South Africa

My wife and I lived in South Africa to complete some charitable projects for those in a third world country. I lead projects such as building water pumps, charity shops, children’s play equipment and dividing buildings to make more rooms for people to live in. I had to deal with language barriers and I also had to support uneducated workers to teach them new skills to accomplish different projects. I organised and lead a ‘Missing Child Awareness Day’ to build awareness in the community of local tragedy. I was dealing with social workers, police workers and head teachers of schools to ensure that we gave a clear and strong message to the families in the townships. My experiences here helped me develop my communication skills and my ability to adapt to new situations with the care of the people we worked with at the centre of everything we did.
