The Senior Heritage Planner is a member of the Cultural Heritage and Urban Design Division within the Development Planning Department. I am responsible for the supervision of Cultural Heritage staff, preparation and review of reports, strategic planning as it relates to the delivery of cultural heritage services, the development of cultural heritage policies, project management of cultural heritage studies and initiatives, identification of revenue sources and grants for cultural heritage initiatives, and the promotion of public interest in the City’s heritage. As the Senior Heritage Planner, I manage the heritage permit process including cultural heritage review of development applications and I am responsible for conducting negotiations with developers and owners of heritage properties. This position prepares cases and is required to represent the City at the Local Planning Appeals Tribunal (LPAT) hearing as an expert witness on heritage matters. The Senior Heritage Planner is also responsible for presentations and recommendations to the Heritage Vaughan Committee, and supports the pressing need for strategic planning, management and preservation of Vaughan’s cultural resources.

Volunteer and team captain of a team of more than 80 other dedicated volunteers, we ride our motorcycles over the course of two full days every year and support more than 5,000 participants who raise funds towards cancer research at Princess Margaret Hospital. As team captain, I am responsible for assigning team member roles, organizing route maps and directing the team through critical stops, and making sure that the participants traverse the combined 525km route safely. My role requires me to stay in contact with all team members, to dispatch them across the 5 routes efficiently, and also to ensure that the rest of the event teams and staff are aware of our team's progress and locations.

As part of a team of on-contract architects and designers, I was responsible for concept and schematic design, 3D concept virtual models, and full construction drawings for a revision to an existing film set for Splatalot 2. Responsibilities included liaisons with structural and mechanical engineering, client presentations, material research; assembly schematics, multimedia presentations, and permit set revisions for elements being built above ground and under water. Additional work included the construction drawings for a TV game show set (Japanizi) in 2D and 3D virtual models for designing and arranging camera angles and finishes.

I was responsible for assisting the Sr. Landscape Architect on the design and development of the Maharishi Veda Land (theme park); following the project's suspension, I was responsible for construction drawings for healthcare facilities and residential projects.

I was hired while still in school, and was responsible for company-wide publications and distributions of documents, plus weekly newsletters sent out globally to the other international offices and their subscribers. Additionally, I was responsible for updating and maintaining the CVs of over 1,100 lawyers current with the latest legal cases and activities.

I was responsible for creating a new graphic format of presentation for company-wide documentation, including reports and monthly statements.

Hired as a Mac specialist and intern architect, my responsibilities within the firm were diverse, ranging from setting up office small LAN networks to assisting the Architect with concept schematic and construction drawings for residential and commercial projects in Canada and in Japan. Subsequent to this employment, Mr. Coates became my OAA Mentor and advisor.

As part of the co-op program at U.Waterloo, I was responsible for the revision of as-built drawings for the Watergarden Condominiums complex, and changes of repetitive elements to as-built condition elements and details reflecting these conditions. The work was carried out on sepia copies of the drawing set, and archived as the drawings-of-record for this project.
