A wise business man once said “You must gain control over your money or the lack of it will forever control you.” I'm a second year Accounting major at the University of North Texas, with an interest in forensic accounting. I'm a New York native living in Texas and enjoying every bit of it. My main passions are hiking and exploring the outdoors. Growing up as the oldest of three siblings with a single mother has given me a focus and different perspective on money management and using your time wisely. Through saving and investing money for the future and budgeting to afford everyday expenses. Since a young age I have always been interested in helping my family by managing money or finding ways to save money.When I first started college, an accounting program reached out to show me what it’s like and what they do. Once I was introduced it really took over my ambitions and I was hooked. One of the most interesting things of accounting to me is the ability to solve problems. Accountants are often tasked with finding and diagnosing problems within different areas of companies, whether it be finding where money is going, or developing ways to diversify assets within a company. These are some of the most important skills that are needed to be a successful accountant.My goal is to get my master’s degree so I can become a CPA and open my own accounting firm. By opening my own firm, it would allow me to be more active in the decision-making process of the firm and allow me to better help the people around the community by using the skills I have developed to help the people around me.
