Nick wasn’t the only clerical staff that I worked with but he was the best. Very often we would have department meetings about major changes and when the time for open questions came, I could always count on Nick to ask some extremely probing and deeply insightful ones that very often were regarding things that even I myself had yet to consider. As with anybody who works hand-in-hand with a team of peers in some capacity, you will eventually learn that each individual has their own strengths and weaknesses. Some are better at one thing, some in others, and they all have their own unique blind spots. All except Nick. It’s not an exaggeration to say that Nick was perfect in his job role. He simply had no blind spots and everything he did was the exact way that it was supposed to be done, and he did it that way every single time. In addition, he would regularly go above and beyond on unique situations where he knew that extra attention was warranted. Sure, he could have just added a note in the file that there was a special situation and he would have 100% been doing exactly his job. However, he knew that sometimes even that wasn’t enough and made additional calls, did his own research, and made sure that I had everything necessary to take the ball and run with it on day one. In addition to his regular job duties Nick also served in a data analyst role for upper management and assisted in preparing reports used for analyzing trends, production, and financial information. While I didn’t have the kind of job role that would directly receive this information I frequently heard the results of his work presented in company meetings and could ask him about the results later. He wasn’t just pulling numbers from column A and putting them into column B, he understood the information that was frequently confusing for myself and other Claims Examiners. Lastly, on a personal level Nick is just a really great guy that you want to be around. He’s extremely smart, very quick, super personable, charming, funny, genuine, disarming, and of high moral character. I could go on and on about Nick – there are just that many positive things to say about him. Working with Nick was a true joy and an honor. I’d like to think that someday others will see me and see all the many positive characteristics that Nick has, but I have a long way to go. The depths of his potential is limitless and I am genuinely excited to see where his career takes him.
