Most of my working career has been a balance between working as a performer/session musician and teaching music in the format of individual or group guitar lessons. Working as a sideman for many artists, including top regional country acts in the midwest has given me the opportunity to utilize all the skills and strengths that I developed through years of working with some of the best musicians in the world at the University of Southern California and the University of Minnesota. Past instructors include Bob Mintzer, Adam Del Monte, Pat Kelley, Steve Trovato, Richard Smith, and Tim Sparks. These mentors, along with 10 years of teaching experience, have also had a massive impact on my approach to music instruction. I have taken the most effective pieces of all the instruction from my mentors and have integrated it with my own ideas and experiences to create a highly versatile and effective teaching style.Aside from working as a sideman and music instructor/mentor to students of a myriad of different demographics, I also pursue composition through my original musical projects. Just like my teaching style, I enjoy developing a thorough understanding of many different styles in order to continue expanding my versatility and to keep discovering new modalities of musical thought and ideas. My most recent original musical project, "Orchestra for Ants,"​ is composed of myself and two other guitarists. Our sound is derived from a fusion of different genres, including flamenco, jazz, country, and pop.
