BEAMZ is a social enterprise. It is a really exciting time at the moment, with a significant upwelling of public consiousness about Climate-Change, loss of wildlife diversity and poor mental health, the very issues which BEAMZ is tackling. David MacKay has concluded that our most unsustainable energy use, is energy embodied in the materials we use. BEAMZ has developed methods for utilising forest poles as structural components, which could substitute aluminium and steel tube or sections. Substituting aluminium saves ten times as much energy compares with burning the wood as a fuel. Creating markets for coppice wood provides the financial catalyst to maintaing woodland in coppice management and to bring more woodland back into coppice management. This is acknowledged as being very good for wildlife diversity. Wood is ubiquitous. Local structural needs can be met with local materials worked by local artisans. BEAMZ is a Community Interest Company so all the revenues generated will be used to promote its objectives. That makes me very happy. If it makes you happy too, please contact me.
