Google Summer Of Code StudentProcessing.Org Jun 2015 - Sep 2015I proposed, developed, and implemented an audio and videostreaming library for the nonprofit and open source code base Processing.org. All code and details can be found at https://github.com/nconfrey/GSoC. I used C, Java, Make, and developed on Linux, compiling using gcc and Eclipse.This project was broken up into roughly three useful parts. It originally focused on streaming media over the network, primarily video and audio streams, but evolved to include revamping Processing's video core video framework. I planned to write networking code in Java, but the project evolved to consist of learning and developing C to Java conversion through Java Native Interface and Java Native Access. Along the way I also picked up skills in video codecs, network packet payloading, and audio encoding.Highlights:- Used Java Native Interface to access the GStreamer C video library in Processing's native Java.- Updated the core video framework of Processing to use GStreamer 1.0 instead of depreciated .10. This allows users of Processing to use modern hardware.

Full Stack Hustler And Growth HackerFetchnotes Jun 2014 - Sep 2014Fetchnotes was a small productivity startup that created a note-taking web and phone app. On a team of roughly 8 members, I collaborated on many different aspects in a burgeoning startup.As part of a product pivot, I took charge on identifying key market segments by conducting customer discovery interviews. In order to find the right product market fit, I talked with people ranging from event planners to contractors to other small business owners. After finding some ideal use cases, I conducted inbound marketing and SEO by developing targeted website landing pages and used Facebook advertising. Ultimately, the new product our team created was deemed valuable enough to be acquired.As part of being a leader in the productivity field, I helped Fetchnotes put together a panel on the Future of Collaboration. We interviewed CEOs of companies such Yammer, Wunderlist, and Asana (bit.ly/137Eajv). -
