I am a seasoned rail industry thought leader and innovator having worked with or for all the major transport groups. Notable previous roles include, Head of Group IT for GB Railways Group who held TOC franchises in UK, Europe and Australia; IT and Innovation Lead for DB and MTR in the UK, and Applications Manager for National Express Rail. Over time, I have gleaned a unique insight to every facet of the rail industry and the continued technology challenges it faces.Today, my work extends to include the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) where I am a founder member of the Future Communications and Positioning Systems Advisory Group. An inspiring and innovative group of industry experts who meet to provide advice and direction to the industry on appropriate communication technologies. Our remit includes:‘...seeking out use-cases which cannot be satisfied with current mobile technologies; determining better approaches to mitigating vulnerabilities in positioning systems; and providing advice around how future rolling stock designs can best support improved train connectivity.’ Through my work at The Virtual Zone, we continue to solve data and technology challenges within the transport sector. We look to disrupt and innovate within the confines of regulatory parameters to deliver value, collaborating with multi-disciplined teams of experts.
