Project Manager for Stockholm Central Technical System. This system is used to manage and co-ordinate the road system within Stockholm Region, Sweden. It integrates existing independent systems into a single common user interface and in additionprovides operators with decision support and Incident Management. Public Transport Information and Priority System for the RTA in Sydney, Australia. Member of team to audit & further develop,the existing PTIPS system. System provides centralised management of bus on-time running performance via interaction with the RTA’s SCATS system and bus OBU’s (On-Board Units). Project Manager for Strangford Lough Variable Message Sign system. The contract was to Manufacture, Supply and Install 6 Variable Message Signs which were controllable from either an in transit ferry or the ferry terminal.Communication from the instation to signs was via both GPRS and Wireless LAN and utilised the Serco UTMC Common Database.

Managed a project at an oil refinery in Hamburg , Germany for Shell. This consisted of a management information system and operator control of tank levels within the oil refineries tank farm and a system which allowed reconciliation of the current oil stocks in the refinery against the various grades of oil which had been transported out of the refinery via ship, road or rail. These systems were implemented in Visual Basic and interfaced to a SCADA system called PI. Responsible for delivery of technical aspects of the project

Technical responsibility for a number of traffic control enhancement/ maintenance projects for the Highways Agency (including Dartford Bridge/Tunnel, Blackwall Tunnel in East London, Belfast Motorway Control System, MIDAS system (controlled motorways on the M25) and a tracking control system for a bar mill in Rotherham, which were formed into an Enhancement and Development Group. There were 20 people under my direct control and tasks include day-to-day running and planning of work for the team, attendance at customer meetings, installation and supervision of software deliveries.Taylor MOD300 Distributed Control System for the Leading Concept Ammonia project at Severnside, Bristol. This involved writing and on-site commissioning of TCL (Taylor Control Language) plant control tasks.Worked as part of a team on Super Co-Audinator which is a Management Information System developed by ICI over many years and has a number of operational sites in the UK.and Holland.

Custom Microelectronics The Company produced integrated plant management systems. This ranged from small data loggers to plant control and display of plant data to operators and managers. Most of the time was spent designing, programming and commissioning two control systems for an aluminium smelter at Lynemouth, Northumberland. Hardware used was GEC GEM80 PLCs which were connected to IBM PCs in order to give plant information to shift managers. Involved in writing a small scale process control language to run on an IBM PC which was used to control Autoclaves at British Aerospace. This was written in C and ran under Digital Research Concurrent PC-DOS.
