After approximately seven years as a volunteer for various programming events at the DIA, I became a full-time staff member. My duties are split between the Public Programs and Community Relations departments, with a focus on programming in both. Within five months of hire, I had arranged two sold-out (filling the 1,115 seat auditorium) shows. The first, in November 2015, featured renowned musician George Clinton telling stories of his life and career, and was a partnership with The Secret Society of Twisted Storytellers, an initiative of The Society for the Re-Institutionalization of Storytelling. The second, in December 2015, featured Keegan-Michael Key and his improv troupe The 313, all LA- based performers with Detroit roots, along with local musical improv group Rock-O-Matic. This event was produced in partnership with, and raised awareness for, The Detroit Creativity Project (DCP). DCP provide arts education programming for Detroit students. Both events were conceived, devised, and ushered into fruition by myself.
