Working in the restaurant industry under many extremely demanding chefs has given me a strong foundation of core values. I've developed strong work ethic, discipline, determination, the ability to work long hours, team management, and communication in order to be successful and move up in the industry. However, as time went on I began to realize that being at the top of this field was no longer my dream and decided to forge a new path. I knew that I wanted to do some kind of programming and when I looked into the different fields I found data science to be the perfect blend of mathematics, computer science, and statistics. I've always been mathematically minded and fascinated with machine learning, artificial intelligence, and natural language processing. I explored teaching myself python with online courses and resources until I found Lambda School and enrolled in their Data Science track full time. Data science has become my passion, and I have delved into the subject with the same enthusiasm and tenacity that made me successful in my previous career. Since committing to becoming a data scientist with Lambda School I've tackled every obstacle thrown my way. I'm excited to apply the traits and abilities I've developed in cooking and restaurant management to my new career.
