Structural Airman
• Prepared and interpreted working drawings, permits and schematics for maintaining, erecting, altering, and repairing buildings and structures (examples: small school house, covered parking area for a desert training facility, Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) material separating structure, shed for on base tool storage, multiple sites for tent structures in deployment environments); these plans and permits were provided by the United States Army Corps of Engineers and the Base Civil Engineers• Adhered to the Department of Defense Building Code through education and on-the-job training for performing the work in the field• Surveyed for proposed work sites to determine material and labour requirements• Identified and selected construction materials considering strength, type and application• Conducted safety training sessions and enforced safety procedures while working• Ensured compliance with commercial and military publications, regulations, and building codes• Discussed inspection findings and recommends corrective action• Fabricated and repaired components of buildings, utility systems, and real property equipment• Managed, constructed, repaired, and modified structural systems and wooden, masonry, metal, and concrete buildings• Ensured compliance with environmental and government regulations• Identified and selected construction materials considering strength, moisture content, grade, mix, application procedures, and curing• Safety Supervisor- presented safety briefings, enforced safety rules, inspections, and acted as a liaison with the Base Safety Officer• Investigations were prompted by any safety mishaps that were identified.
