I am the founder of Hixsons business enablers in Bournemouth, specialising in strategy, growth and control for SMEs. For over 40 years I have been enabling SME business owners in Dorset and beyond to create long term value by helping them to adjust their thinking. As a result, Hixsons has been ranked in the top 10 for accountancy firm client satisfaction nationally. Since taking on a Ukrainian team member at Hixsons I saw that there were many highly qualified Ukrainian women in the UK searching for work. Knowing that accountancy practices in the UK were looking for quality bookkeepers, I devised a project to enable them to link with displaced Ukrainians via the ethical employment agency Real Jobs with training provided by QuickBooks . We have since employed another Ukraine national and the project has resulted in 15 hires so far. I am looking to support Ukrainian SMEs in rebuilding their economy after the war, through training, seminars and one to one help. A believer in helping people to help themselves, I publish free content for businesses, start-ups, and students through blogs, video guides and other web-based resources at www.hixsons.co.uk/support/blog. I have also contributed to other publications on entrepreneurship, decision making, leadership and management, and I decided to write a book Understanding The Numbers to help make SME owners businesses and life better. The Global Peter Drucker Forum enables me to work with management thought leaders as their SME champion and I edit the Forum’s blog series. As one of only 4 UK Peter Drucker Europe Associates, I can apply world leading management thinking and future trends to help local businesses. Nationally and internationally, I speak to public and private sector audiences about the future of work, impact of technology and putting humanity first in leadership and management. This is not about techniques but attitudinal change.
