I am a doctoral student and a teaching assistant at UC Irvine, pursuing a Ph.D. in physical chemistry with a focus on analytical sensor development. I have over six years of experience in creating and applying innovative tools to solve chemical problems in various domains, such as environmental, agricultural, and automotive.My research in the Penner lab involves constructing nanomaterials using electrochemistry, characterizing nanowires, and developing gas sensing devices. These devices can detect fruit ripening, fuel leaks in hydrogen cars, monitor environmental health, and more. I have contributed to multiple publications and patents in this field, and collaborated with interdisciplinary teams to understand the underlying physical phenomena. As a teaching assistant, I have instructed students in advanced analytical chemistry, and helped to design and deliver remote courses in response to the pandemic. I have also received a fellowship from the Division of Teaching Excellence and Innovation for my work.I am passionate about building new tools to observe the chemical world around us, and promoting a world where health and safety concerns can be addressed with the right tools and creative thinking. I am looking for a career that will allow me to continue to innovate and apply my skills and knowledge in the field of analytical sensor development.
