By providing innovative executive-level leadership for HCA Florida facilities, we achieved profitable growth and clinical excellence. During this time, I held full responsibility for financial targets, while maintaining high-quality patient care standards and services at each facility.My contributions included increased ADC 3% in Palm Beach market, 5.3% in Treasure Coast, and 7.8% in Broward, while improving overall occupancy to 76%.

in this role, I provided executive leadership for all clinical, operational, and financial affairs of the Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital and Jackson Community Mental Health Centers. As a result, we turned around an underperforming facility with the busiest psychiatric ED in the country and brought humanity back to behavioral healthcare for our employees and patients. This included securing $2.6M to build a new psychiatric ED, which performed 15K evaluations per year.

In this newly created role, I provided strategic leadership for Behavioral Health Ambulatory Care Division, including the development and implementation of new behavioral health strategic initiatives. Additionally, I built the strategic plan and roadmap to pivot our inpatient business to deliver on outpatient opportunities.My impact included driving initiatives that led to a 20% increase in patient volume, 30% in outpatient slots, and 36% in show rate as a result of fast-tracking process implementation. Also, we delivered 100% increase in co-payment collection by integrating patient finance with outpatient mental health clinics.

For 2 years, I managed the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital psychology training programs, including financial and clinical operations. During my tenure, we established a powerful training program by building a strategic thought partnership between University of Miami and Jackson Health System. In addition, I served as Principal Investigator testing an innovative model to reduce inpatient suicide and earned Jackson’s first-ever federal research grant by Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) with total funding of $300K.

In 2007, I took over the Adult Ambulatory Services which included an outpatient continuum of care and a training environment for residents, fellows, and interns. Highlights included transforming the clinic into a powerful tool to drive effectual change in behavioral and public health.

Here, I was recruited to bridge Otsuka with IBM to offer a digital health solution (MENTAT) in Miami to reduce psychiatric crisis episodes of care. As a result, I contributed to the build of a clinical database to ensure an effective design and delivery of the solution. Also, I partnered with Otsuka to deploy across South Florida Behavioral Health Network in order to capture data for utilization management.
