Led effort to migrate and replace the company datacenter with state-of-the-art equipment utilizing the latest Dell VxRail hardware running VMware. Dramatically improved security, redundancy, and system uptime. Led effort to recover all company systems from a Ransomware attack. Restored business-critical systems within 24 hours and fully functional within 48 hours. Developed a comprehensive IT Disaster Recovery plan and implemented the first Disaster Recovery exercise simulating a full power outage and system down scenario. I also lead the Systems Analyst group responsible for all enterprise software work and production support. Point of contact for software development vendors and project teams. Managed Progressive's Distributed Systems team within Progressive's Enterprise Technology organization. The team was comprised of 17 Senior IT Systems Engineers that provide highest level Operational support for the Distributed Systems infrastructure. Capabilities managed: Windows OS Support, Linux OS Support, Virtual Server Support, Cisco Unified Computing System, SAN and NAS Storage, Oracle and SQL Database Services, Software Deployment, Server Security Patching, Server Antivirus, Data Backups, Digital Certificate Management and Active Directory/LDAP. • Assigned as the organizational point of contact to lead the effort to operationalize the use of Cloud technology at Progressive. Assembled and led a team of engineers to develop a clear support model for Amazon Web Services as well as Microsoft Azure technologies.• Responsible for managing vendor relations including one of Progressive’s largest strategic vendors, Cisco. This included meeting regularly with the vendor and providing input to Progressive IT Control on vendor contracts and performance. • Responsible for highest level operational support and high-impact incident escalation and problem resolution. Communicated regularly with Group Managers, Directors and Business Leaders to provide clear, concise, and timely updates on the status of the IT infrastructure.• Direct management of virtual teams - eight senior IT Systems Engineers in Mayfield Village, OH and nine senior IT Systems Engineers located remotely in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Successfully built strong working relationships with my remote staff and traveled on location on multiple occasions.

Managed the Systems and Infrastructure group within Progressive's Enterprise Technology organization. The group is comprised of IT Systems Engineers that provide 24/7 physical and administrative support of all IT hardware residing in Progressive's data center in Mayfield Village, Ohio (~80,000 square foot facility) as well as in Colorado Springs, Colorado (~100,000 square foot facility). Responsible for maintenance and administration of over 7,500 Servers, including both physical and virtual servers. Team also provided primary incident support for SAN and NAS storage including over 16 petabytes of data.

Managed a team within Progressive's Infrastructure Operations Services organization. My team consisted of IT Systems Engineers that provide Technical, Scheduling, and Operations support for Progressive's IBM Mainframe systems. The team provided 24/7 support of the mainframe and enterprise workload environments across multiple environments including Production, Development, and Test. The team was also responsible for monitoring and maintaining Progressive's data mirroring between the data center in Mayfield Village, Ohio and Colorado Springs, Colorado. Selected for and completed a highly competitive management training program for future senior leaders in Progressive’s Information Technology organization. The selection process was extensive and comprised of three rounds of evaluations including an external vendor. Progressive’s IT department consists of over 3000 employees and I was one of four candidates selected for the program. I was also the first candidate since program inception to be selected for managing within Progressive’s Enterprise application development organization. In this role, I managed a team of primarily senior and lead IT Application Programmers who were staffed across large enterprise software development efforts.

Solution Architect for large enterprise mobile related projects for approximately 2 years. Included technical oversight of 20,000+ hour project initiatives spanning multiple large application domains and technologies. Technical leader and liaison between the IT project team and business partners.

Technical team lead for multiple large web development efforts focused on improving internet experience and increasing functionality and usability for customers to self-service their policies. Worked on a large project to convert Progressive’s direct, web-based quoting application to be used by internal agents in their call centers. Developed functionality which enabled Progressive to retire a thick client application and utilize one application to service internal agents and direct online customers.
