It Infrastructure Engineer
CurrentAlongside the role as IT Operations Monitoring I was approached at the outset of the Coronavirus pandemic to support in bolstering the remote technical capability of PA so our Consultants could continue to function without reliance on the on premise Infrastructure. This created a direct pathway to the IT Infrastructure Role. In the pandemic era the main tasks I was responsible for were:- Devising a new strategy for telephony and communication within PA to remove reliance on the Skype for business on premise infrastucture-Communicating timescales and key deliverables with senior stakeholders-Writing training documentation for users to be able to hit the ground running with the new systems-Devising a new policy for meeting rooms, sourcing new meeting room equipment and working with external suppliers to install these ready for offices to reopen following the Coronavirus lockdownResponsibilities since the Covid lockdowns have ended include:-Keeping up to date with Microsoft's ever changing roadmap when it comes to Office 365, using my professional judgement to identify new areas of opportunity for PA-Ensuring all changes which take place are done in a secure manner, working alongside our technical security teams-proposing new areas of interest for the telephony strategy at PA-Training several new members of the Infrastructure team, running weekly sessions to get to grips with the key systems-Running training sessions for other teams to aid the support provided to our customers-working alongside senior stakeholders to devise a new support structure for Office 365 in response to the ever changing Microsoft world.
