Profile bio

About Nick Horvath

I am experienced software and devops engineering manager of managers running a team of 25 comprised of full-time and vendor software developers, program managers, and service engineers. I have over 20 years of industry experience in the software develop, devops, test automation, and quality assurance roles and have shipped a variety of Microsoft devices and applications to millions of customers from Windows OS inbox applications to Microsoft HoloLens 1 & 2 AR Devices, Windows Mixed Reality, and other key MR projects. I am a leader who enjoys building diverse teams, setting an organizational rhythm, and I love establishing a strong team culture. My professional focus has been in the engineering systems space, and I enjoy the demands of having run projects that deliver to external customers as well as internal developers (sometimes the internal devs can provide the biggest challenges). Understanding the latest tools in the area of DevOps and Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment as well as leveraging various data systems and cloud tools energizes me and I take a breadth first approach to understand the bigger picture. Most importantly, I enjoys the people side of technology and loves all things when it comes to hiring and retaining talented people from software engineers to program managers. I have taken a growth mindset regularly and enjoys the engagement with all those either in my direct reporting chain or across the organization. Seeing the team work together to have scale impact and land key business results on a regular basis is what motives me. When I am not focused on the latest role challenges, if I am not engaged on family or community activities, I enjoy regular exercise with an audiobook as my companion. I also like to set stretch fitness goals like climbing Mt. Rainier or completing the Tiger Claw Mountain Trail Race.

Listed skills include Test Automation, Software Engineering, Agile Methodologies, Web Services, and 12 others.
