I help organisations discover and deliver what they need to do next. I work with investors, philanthropies, foundations, family offices, government ministries, companies and nonprofits. I seek out the complexity of being successful both financially and/or in terms of social impact. My experience stretches across organisations of all sizes and ages. I have a particular interest and speciality in education and learning, with an in-depth knowledge of the global learning landscape from "K-grey". Impact investment and venture philanthropy fascinate me. I have been lucky enough to have worked with some of the largest foundations in the world in co-designing and implementing their plans for giving away and/or investing money in education and the Future of Work. I am also very familiar with the scientific publishing sector and the consumer/trade publishing space. I can do as well as think. I have raised venture capital money, executed a small MBO, and evaluated many acquisition and investment opportunities. My skills include developing a vision for a new initiative and leading its delivery. I am able successfully to manage the interfaces (and sometimes compromises) between all the different elements of getting things done: strategic, commercial, creative, technical, editorial and human. I have experienced the entire lifecycle of digital businesses and services - from market research, strategy, business modelling and planning to analytics, technology upgrades and ongoing operations. Technically speaking, I have a deep knowledge of developing customer-focussed strategy, evidence-based system thinking, competitor and market analysis, how technology and learning combine and collide, digital publishing and content management. I can write code if put to it.
